Coronavirus - stay alert to stay safe

It’s been one year since Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) started the COVID vaccination programme in Rotherham and thanks to the fantastic efforts and dedication of staff, volunteers and residents, 480,000 vaccinations have been delivered including 1st, 2nd and booster jabs.

On Sunday 12 December 2021, the Government announced that it has stepped up its Booster programme as Omicron cases continue to increase across the UK. Booster vaccines are available for all Rotherham residents aged 18 and over who are at least 91 days since their 2nd dose.

Rotherham CCG has been working extremely hard over the last few days to significantly increase the availability of booster vaccines for Rotherham residents.

NHS National Medical Director Professor Stephen Powis said: “With Omicron cases soaring and two doses of vaccine not providing the protection we need it is vital to get a booster – for you, your family and your friends.”

Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said: “As we ramp up our vaccination programme to bolster our defences, I want to say thank you to the NHS and the armed forces, to the pharmacies in the heart of our communities and to the thousands of volunteers for their tireless work morning, noon and night in our national mission to get boosted.

“We have one of the fastest booster programmes in the world and I urge everybody to roll up their sleeves and get boosted now”
