Coronavirus - stay alert to stay safe

Any facilities associated with outdoor sports and physical activities are permitted to reopen this week and many Rotherham golf courses have got the ball rolling quickly now that people can exercise outside as often as they like.

The newly published Government guidance says that you can play golf providing you only meet up with one other person from a different household and observe social distancing guidelines, remaining a minimum of two metres apart.

Golfing organisations have also published guidance on how courses and facilities can operate with a number of sensible restrictions. For example, as the virus can spread via contact, club’s are removing things like rakes from the bunkers and players are being told to avoid touching the flagstick.

Clubhouses and bars remain closed and courses are facilitating online bookings to remove face-to-face contact.

Below is a collection of posts from social media as operators, golfers and groundskeepers celebrate being able to get back onto the course.
