Rotherham United promotion parade

Rotherham is hosting an open top bus parade and civic reception for the magnificent Millers.

Rotherham United clinched promotion back to The Championship over the weekend with a 2-0 win at Gillingham that cemented second place on the final day of the League One season.

Following a slight dip in form in a standout season, the Millers worked hard to land seven points from the last three games to finish the campaign on 90 points, two behind eventual league winners, Wigan Athletic.

The promotion capped a great month that also saw Rotherham United pick up the Papa John’s Trophy at Wembley at the start of April.

On Wednesday May 4, a special celebration will see the trophy and promotion winning team travel from AESSEAL New York Stadium, calling at club partners Parkgate Shopping, before returning on to Rotherham Town Hall for a civic reception.

Paul Warne, his coaching staff and players will assemble for one final time before breaking away for the closed season, as they board the bus before gathering at the Town Hall to give short speeches and interviews to the assembled masses.

The event will allow loyal fans to join in the party, with the Millers starting the celebration parade at AESSEAL New York Stadium, with the following approximate timings:

4.30pm | Open-top bus leaves AESSEAL New York Stadium

4.50pm | Arrive at Parkgate Shopping – Meet with fans, opportunity to get signatures and photographs. Bus located near Matalan.

5:20pm| Leave Parkgate Shopping

5.45pm – Arrive Rotherham Town Hall
Meet with fans and speeches from Club Management and Mayor of Rotherham

Road closures will be in place around the town hall (from 5pm to 7pm) for Ship Hill, Moorgate Street, The Crofts, Douglas Street, Stanley Street, Wilfred Street, Grove Road, Quarry Hill, Downs Row, and Snail Hill.
