Swift tipped for success on “Yorkshire roads”

Rotherham professional cyclist Ben Swift is back in the saddle this weekend to compete in another race with a difference.

Having withdrawn temporarily from all racing due to the COVID-19 outbreak, his team, Team INEOS, is returning to racing action in the virtual world of Zwift for the eRace Classic on June 6.

Zwift is an online cycling and running videogame and physical training program that enables users to interact, train and compete in a virtual world. It is perfect for those staying safe at home.

The follow up to April’s first-ever eRace will see riders once again face off in competition, this time on Zwift’s Yorkshire course.

A re-creation of the circuit from the 2019 UCI Road World Championships, Yorkshire’s virtual roads should provide a stern test for our riders, while the rolling terrain also creates an opportunity for a dynamic, attacking race where team tactics could prove vital.

The team’s top riders have signed up to take part and have been split into six teams, Tour de France winners, Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome are the stand out names.

Swift has been picked out by his teammates as a facourite for the race which you can watch live at 5pm via the team’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
